The Flying Pig
The Flying Pig has grown a reputation as one of the best places for ribs in town. Smokey flavors with tender, meat falling off the bone goodness. Their lamb chops are an item you should not miss. So I was more than thrilled when I was invited to try The Flying Pig new menu! However, to my surprise, it was not what I thought it would be, but the quality and flavors speak for themselves. It is filled all types of fresh eats from salad to poke. If you are the type that loves seafood, you will enjoy this new addition.
Seafood Buckets
The Seafood buckets came one by one from the kitchen and the aromas instantly filled the air! Packed with flavors that were new to me but just as good as their ribs. For our seafood bucket sides, we tried their Ginger & Carrot salad and Asian Slaw.
The choices you have for your “catch” are between Softshell Crabs, River Prawns, and Prawns. Afterwards, you chose the sauce you would like, between Singapore Chili sauce, Crispy Oat with basil chilies, and Salted Egg Yolk.
The Softshell Crab came to us tossed in the Salted Egg yolk sauce. It had a robust flavor and the Asian slaw it was served with complemented the characteristics of the salted egg yolk sauce.
We also had the delight of having the plumb river prawns tossed in the Singaporean chili sauce. The prawns were not only plump and meaty but were cooked to perfection! Just so know, you do have a choice of asking how spicy you would like your chili sauce. So for those that can’t eat too spicy to those who love spicy. Feel free to let the staff know how spicy you would like your dish.
Pick your Poke
Another item on The Flying Pig’s new menu is their ridiculously delicious poke. For the base, you have a choice between sushi rice and salad. For the Poke, you have a choice between Salmon Sashimi, Tofu and a Seasonal Poke. We got to try their signature dressing, which the base consists of miso, so good that I had to lick my bowl clean! If you haven’t been to The Flying Pig yet, you have a couple of new reasons to make that trip soon!
